Prom 2017- Bling it On!

Sweet Pea Floral is ready for Prom 2017! We took the Seventeen Prom Dress Quiz and shocker- with our "Classic Style" we should opt for pretty detailing or Floral Print! ;)

We're excited floral prints are so big this year (for obvious reasons) but also because it gives us a chance to combine some fun colors. Neutral corsages and boutonnieres are a gorgeous accent to your prom ensemble, but pops of complementing colors can really bring everything together. Just like all your other accessories! One of our favorite combinations this year is royal blue paired with pink toned or coral roses. We think they make a stunning complement to this trendy floral skirt.

Pair red roses with navy blue for a colorful look that complements your dress.

Another trend we continue to see EVERYWHERE this year are the "new neutral" shades of blush, rose gold, and champagne. We love the soft pairing of a champagne bow and some pretty blush roses. It goes perfectly with a light pink dress, but really can wow next to any variety of shades.

Ladies with blue dresses and lovers of bright colors take note- we will feature blue bomb dendrobium orchids this year!

Or keep things unique but a bit more toned down with lovely white or pink cymbidium orchids.

Each Sweet Pea Floral corsage or boutonniere is custom made to compliment your dress or tux. The sky is the limit! If you're unsure of colors, feel free to bring in photos or swatches so our designers can assist you in coordinating ribbon and flower colors. :)

Valentine's Day Tips

Now that it's February we can officially say that Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Make your honey happy with our tips for ordering flowers!

1. Order early!! :) To give us time to special order or choose flowers just for you, call the week before. We don't want to say we favor anyone...but A+ to those who give us a little extra time to plan and make your order extra special! <3

Bonus Credit: Place your order online with us the week before Valentine's Day (Monday, February 6th- Friday, February 10th) with the coupon code LOVE10 and get 10% off your order! :)

2. Help us get to know your sweetie... share their favorite colors, style (traditional, modern, natural), and favorite flowers. Or you can never go wrong with the classic red, white, or pink roses!

For the modern honey...

For the soft romantics...

Color lovin' cuties...

Something more traditional...

nontraditional half dozen.jpg

3. Skip the vase with a wrap bouquet! Our bouquets are delivered in a pretty glitter mesh wrap that is every bit as stunning as a vased arrangement. Just make sure your honey has a vase at home!

4. One stop shop! We'll deliver a box of delicious chocolates with your order, add it on easily when you checkout online. (We have cute balloons too!)

5. Put some thought into the card. Plan what you'd like to say before you stop by, then you don't have the pressure to come up with a special, heartfelt message at the last minute. Your thoughtful message will look even better on our locally handmade cards- they come free with any order over $50. :)

6. Don't stress too much over flowers! As they say...it's the thought that counts! A lil'' wrap bouquet is just as nice of a gesture as the Big Dog double dozen. ;)

Thanks for reading lovebug! We hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day! <3

Fall Favorites

Hey there, lovebug! In this fall weather, is there anything better than cozying up with a nice warm beverage? We're not picky here at the shop- coffee, hot cocoa, raspberry tea, or pumpkin spice lattes, we've got it all on hand. Even when the inevitable stray petal makes it's way into a cup or two, it's still the best way to make the day a little warmer. We hope you can take a minute, grab your biggest, baddest mug, snuggle up, and start to daydream with us about Thanksgiving. :)

Family, comfort food, and a beautiful holiday table where they can all come together make the season so special. With a little over a week to get your home into the spirit of Thanksgiving, we have a few suggestions when it comes to flowers, including centerpieces for your main event. :)

Our Favorite Fall Flowers

  • Fall Mums- So many varieties in so many colors: butterscotch, gold, purple, burgundy, or multi-tone. We also love that the price gives you more bang for your buck!
  • Wheat- Fall harvest summed up in one little stem. Also, can you say TEXTURE?! <3
  • Saffoflower- Such a perfect burst of texture and color!
  • Carnations- We love adding stems in deep purple and burgundy to give depth to autumn brights.
  • Spray Roses- Classic and elegant. We're thinking oranges, reds, yellows, or get crazy and go for blush. :)
  • Lush mix of greens- To add fullness and texture. This year we thought we'd throw some evergreens into the mix!

Now that you know our fall faves, take home some stems to create your own arrangement or....

We put all of our favorite fall flowers (and some fun accessories) into our Thanksgiving Centerpiece Collection. Check them out below!

 Golden Fall- $55.00

Golden Fall- $55.00

 Harvest Half-Moon- $45.00

Harvest Half-Moon- $45.00

 Fall Perfection- $40.00

Fall Perfection- $40.00

Of course, we always love making up creative, one-of-a kind arrangements too!  Call or stop by the shop and we can help customize something perfect for you. <3

A Spontaneous Fall Photoshoot

Blush & Burgundy

Sometimes things just come together perfectly. In this case it was a fast approaching ad deadline, one amazing photographer, some seriously beautiful dahlias, a stunning color palette, and a 70 degree October day.

After a laptop vs. water incident at the shop, we were left with only a few saved wedding pictures for an ad in Madison Wedding Planner and Guide-due in just two days! After trying, frantically to track down photos without much luck, the SP team began to brainstorm.

We have flowers.

We know awesome photographers.

We like to be outside on beautiful fall days. :)

Feelings of panic turned into inspiration as we began to plan our spontaneous photoshoot.

Boss lady Cathy and the whole SP team were loving blush roses, dahlias, and as always, TEXTURE! We decided to get in on the super trendy blush, burgundy, and champagne color palette that has been all over bride's Pinterest boards. The result was, in the words of Cathy, a bangin’ bridal bouquet and floral crown to rule them all. Deep burgundy dahlias, hanging amaranthus, sprigs of rosemary, and scabiosa pods kept the light blush bridal colors feelin' like fall. The bouquet was finished with long trailing silver, champagne, and burgundy ribbon, perfect to catch the breeze on a gusty October afternoon. The colors at Shumacher Farm Park were a gorgeous backdrop to our photos and the overcast day made the light just right.

All said and done, everything, came together in just 4 days- not too shabby!

We are loving the results and hope you do too! More styled shoots are definitely in our future; keep an eye out for those and for our ad in Madison Wedding Planner and Guide. :)

Happy travels love bug!

Special thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.
